President Akatsuka has been promoting joint projects with space development companies and national / international organizations and institutes.
President Akatsuka went out on his own from NEC and then established Mark Technology Co.Ltd., 1999. He started to design and produce of optical equipment for on-board satellites, which had been installed in various satellites. Through he also led to M&A(NMB Semiconductor Co.Ltd., Nippon Steel Semiconductor Co.Ltd. and UMC Japan Co.Ltd.), the company name changed to Mach Corporation Co.Ltd. in 2013.
President Akatsuka joined NEC Corporation in 1980 and was assigned to the space development department. He was initially engaged in design and development of the communication equipment and optical-sensor for Geostationary Meteorological Satellite: GMS, Himawari (meaning “sunflower”). Thereafter he was sent on missions to several research organizations, such as NASDA(National Space Development Agency of Japan, renamed JAXA(Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) in 2003), NASA(National Aeronautics and Space Administration), Hughes Aircraft Company(U.S.) and Bell Laboratories(U.S., renamed Nokia Bell Labs in 2016), for collaborative research and development. He still has been possible to connect with a lot of organizations and companies. He often exchanges information and discuss with them for the most up-to-date space technologies and telecommunication engineering.
After graduation of Nihon University, President Akatsuka joined the Anti-air Artillery Brigade, Japan Ground Self-Defense Force in 1978 and then was seconded to Japan Air Self-Defense Force.
President Akatsuka holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Nihon University in 1978.
